"Incarnation
Mission is a hospital chaplaincy ministry of presence
at Laguna Honda Hospital, a 1000-bed, county-run nursing
hospital for patients with Alzheimer's, brain damage or
physical disability requiring daily nursing care and supervision.
My home units are two special units for persons with late-stage
AIDS and for persons receiving intensive physical, psychological
or speech therapy, following patients when they are transferred
to other units. I spend two days a week visiting patients
in 8 or 9 units, offering communion and anointing, and
celebrate Mass once a month. {Typically I visit about
100 patients per day, giving communion to about 15 and
anointing about 30-35. We have 14-16 persons at Mass.
} I also provide Bibles, rosaries and weekly office lectionary
lists as a guide to Bible reading and provide last rites
to the dying. In addition, I visit patients who
have moved to other facilities to provide continuity in
their lives." |

The patron saints
of this ministry (Michael and Florian) are an indication
of the nature of the people primarily served through this
ministry: police, fire personnel and other first responders.
Supporting police officers and their families, victims
and bystanders has been the primary focus for the past
eleven years. Working in Animal Assisted Crisis Response:
developing and nurturing specially trained dog and handler
teams to assist clergy, counselors, and others in mental
health to aid in the aftercare of those involved in traumatic
events is a second focus. |

We are an independent Catholic
Church, led by a validly ordained priest with apostolic
succession. We believe that Jesus came for all and that
nothing ought to stand between a person's need for Eucharist
and their ability to receive it. We are a welcoming and
affirming church and invite you to explore your own ministry
and find out how God is working in your life. We are a
Eucharistic, liturgical and sacramental people who celebrate
liturgy according to the Roman rite. We adhere to the
Nicene Creed and provide the following sacraments: Baptism,
Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Marriage, Holy
Orders and Sacrament of the Sick. These sacraments are
open to all, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
