BE
IT KNOWN that, having passed by a 2/3 vote
in both houses, the 4th General
Convention of the Reformed Anglican Catholic Church
adopted the following guidelines as its basis for
an intercommunion relationship in accordance with
Title A, Canon 2.4 of the RACC Canons.
BE IT FURTHER KNOWN, that the Board
of Trustees of the American Catholic Church of New
England at their September 8, 2007 meeting has voted
in favor of the relationship using these guidelines
and subsequent action at the June 2008 ACCNE Synod
concurred:
• Both the American Catholic Church of New England
and
the Reformed Anglican Catholic Church recognize the
catholicity and independence
of the other and maintain their own.
• Each church agrees to admit members of the
other to participate in the Sacraments.*
• Intercommunion does not require from either
Church the acceptance
of all doctrinal opinion, sacramental devotion, or
liturgical practice
characteristic of the other but implies that each
believes
the other to hold all the essentials of the Christian
faith.
• Each Church agrees to participate in the formulation
and distribution of
shared Social Justice and Humanitarian statements
and to the extent possible
to work together toward a more just and caring society
that honors both
human beings and the planetary environment as gifts
of God.
*'Both Churches have pledged to assist each other,
guided by their respective governing documents, noting
any pre-existing limitations regarding the consecration
of future bishops..' "
THEREFORE, on Friday, June 27, 2008,
during the ACCNE 2008 Synod and in the context of
the service of Evening Prayer, the Bishops and other
representatives of both churches, first praying together,
signed this document establishing intercommunion.
